Waterlife restaurant and bar

This was my view for a sunny breakfast client meeting.

Tucked in behind Dreamworld, at the Gold Coast City Marina, Waterlife restaurant is not what I expected. The outlook is lovely. To get to the cafe you follow the yellow line which takes you through the shipyard which is full of million dollar boats. It’s a hub of activity at 9am in the morning, a whole other world of boats that I never knew existed.

Unfortunately breakfast was average. It presented well but lacked any real flavour. I chose the breakfast bruschetta of ricotta, mushrooms, roasted tomato, spinach and a cold poached egg. It would have been a lot better served with feta or haloumi for a salty hit.

I’ve heard that lunch is a much better option plus, it’s licensed so you can have a cold beer or a glass of white . The website lunch menu has plenty to choose from including the usual burgers and tricked up sandwiches, beer battered fish, chips and salad, Caesar salad, calamari and salad, Macadamia nut crusted chicken with avo and a Cointreau and mango dressing and a scotch fillet with salad and chips.

It’s a great place for a client meeting if you are looking for somewhere between Gold Coast and Brisbane or if you are out for a Sunday drive and want to see some impressive boats, stop in for a drink or a coffee.
